Big Ass Zin

Big Ass Zin, originally uploaded by lalagirl.

My folks were over yesterday along with Paul’s parents and we grilled some steaks. It was sunny but not hot, breezy but not windy, and I had a glorious day. I love spending time with my family!

Whenever we get together like this, my dad, Paul’s stepmother, and I always polish off a bottle or two of wine. He brought over this new one we hadn’t tried before – it’s called Big Ass Zin, and it was actually REALLY super good. And check out that cute label! I love it.

Thumbs up all around from the patio.

Luvs Anita Renfroe Video

Luvs diapers has a fun little campaign going on right now…have you seen that video on YouTube by comedienne Anita Renfroe – it’s the “Mom-sense” song, set to the William Tell Overture? It’s hysterical. If you haven’t seen it, poke around YouTube for a minute, and you should find it pretty easily. Well, there’s a sequel to it that just came out today on the Luvs diapers website. Check it out!

I love Luvs diapers – my kids are actually out of diapers now (thank God! 4 kids in diapers – whew. It ain’t for the faint of heart) but we always used Luvs, for years – they cost so much less, and they work great. Right now they’re doing a campaign on TAKING A STAND against paying more for decent diapers – it’s pretty cute:

Luvs is also offering a $5 off coupon via its website, starting today, and is encouraging moms everywhere to take a stand against pricier diapers by pledging to choose products that offer premium features for no extra cost. Quantities are LIMITED and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Click on the cute little van below to get to the Luvs site, then click on the “Reap Revolutionary Rewards” link. Sign up for an account to get your $5 off coupon. Yay!

Brain, Child Magazine

I want to tell you about my new favorite magazine: Brain, Child – the magazine for thinking mothers. A huge, full-page ad on the back of the magazine for MomBloggersClub.com was the first indicator to me that I would really be liking this magazine! It’s full of GREAT articles of interest to moms like me, beyond the fluff crap you find in other parenting magazines. There’s a great article in the current issue about too-good-to-be-true “mom friendly” work-from-home businesses. There are heartwarming essays from women talking about motherhood, divorce, and explaining death to children. There’s a stroller review PAGES long, with comments from a dozen or more mothers. You know how I like long winded product reviews! ;) Tell me everything or tell me nothing, dammit. I’m REALLY enjoying this magazine! I’m not even sure how I ended up getting a free copy, but I’m ready to become a subscriber! Check it out.

Update: I had to come back and edit my post, because I just FINALLY realized that the long-assed stroller review is a work of fiction. As soon as I started reading it and realizing it was satirical, I just cracked up, wondering if anyone read my review after checking out the magazine and decided I was a complete idiot! Apparently I skipped over it again and again, since I’m not exactly in the market for a stroller, but it was a hysterical parody of some of the funny client comments you find online. Funny shit, that.
